As we move into the second half of 2026, one thing is clear: the School of EMS continues to grow because of the people behind the mission.
Across the organization, teams are supporting more students, opening new opportunities, strengthening educational experiences, expanding clinical partnerships, and improving the systems that keep everything moving. From admissions and student support to education, labs, clinicals, and employer partnerships, every department plays a role in helping future EMS professionals succeed.
Growth brings challenges, but it also creates opportunities to improve. The work happening behind the scenes today is building a stronger experience for our students, instructors, clinical partners, and employer sponsors tomorrow.

Megan was always eager and ready to perform any skills learned. She was the first to assist other students that needed a nudge to assist them to the point where the remembered where they needed to be with patient assessments. She had a great affect towards learning more to advance her learning of the paramedic trade.

Summer enrollment activity remains strong as we prepare for a busy fall season. Employer sponsors and prospective students are encouraged to begin planning now for upcoming EMT, AEMT, and Paramedic starts.
As demand continues to grow in many regions, early applications and sponsor coordination help ensure students have the best opportunity to secure a seat in their preferred class. Sponsors should also continue monitoring student progress through the Sponsor Dashboard and remain engaged with students throughout the enrollment and educational process.
The strongest student outcomes continue to come from organizations that stay connected before, during, and after the classroom experience.

SUPPORT STATUS
|
|
|
The Support Team continued to help students navigate the administrative, financial, and documentation requirements that can impact program completion. Throughout May, the team facilitated numerous financial counseling meetings, supported students through leave-of-absence transitions, and assisted hundreds of students with payment planning and compliance requirements.
The department also celebrated the graduation of more than 20 new EMTs and Paramedics while continuing to focus on removing barriers that could prevent student success.

EDUCATION BRIEFING

|
|
Student engagement continues to grow through the expansion of instructor-led Office Hours and supplemental lecture sessions.
New Teams-based learning opportunities covering Assessment, Anatomy & Physiology, Cardiology, Toxicology, Airway, and Pharmacology have seen strong participation from students seeking additional support beyond their regular coursework. These sessions provide another opportunity for students to engage with instructors, strengthen understanding of challenging topics, and prepare for both program success and certification examinations.
Students are encouraged to accept all educational meeting invitations they receive, even when attendance may not be possible, ensuring they remain connected to available learning opportunities.

LAB REPORT
|
Where Readiness is Built.
|
May was another strong month for Lab Operations, with nearly 1,500 students participating in hands-on training experiences across the country.
In addition to supporting thousands of required lab evaluations and audits, the team delivered 33 card certification courses, completed instructor monitoring activities, and maintained exceptional student outcomes. EMT students achieved a 100% final lab testing pass rate, while Paramedic students continued to demonstrate outstanding performance through both practical skills testing and oral boards.
The department also celebrated the opening of the newly updated Tyler, Texas facility, positioning the organization for continued growth in the region.

CLINICAL COMMAND
|
Where Care Comes to Life.
|
Clinical Operations continued to experience significant growth throughout May as onboarding activity, student participation, and clinical clearances remained strong.
More than 4,200 clinical and field shifts were completed by students during the month, while the team processed nearly 500 onboarding submissions and cleared over 200 students to begin clinical rotations.
The School of EMS clinical network now includes more than 1,300 EMS and hospital locations supported by over 800 active affiliation agreements, continuing to provide students with diverse real-world learning experiences across the country.

Success in EMS is built through consistency.
The students who thrive are rarely the ones who never encounter obstacles. They are the ones who remain engaged, seek feedback, ask questions, and continue moving forward despite challenges. Every lecture attended, every skill practiced, and every clinical experience completed contributes to becoming the type of provider patients and partners can trust.
Progress is not always measured in major milestones. Often, it is measured in the decision to keep showing up and doing the work.

"As we move into the summer months, I wanted to take a moment to connect and share what we’re seeing—and hearing—across the Fire and EMS community.
At the School of EMS, we recognize that education is ultimately about people, partnerships, and service. We are proud to be working alongside students and departments like yours, and we remain committed to supporting the professionals who serve on the front lines every day.
We continue to see strong and steady growth in both our EMT and Paramedic programs. More importantly, we are seeing deeper engagement with departments who are looking not just for training, but for a trusted partner who understands the operational realities you face. That trust is something we value and work hard to earn every day.
Recently, our team had the opportunity to attend the First There First Care / Gathering of the Eagles Conference in Fort Lauderdale. It was a privilege to spend time face-to-face with fire service leaders from across the country—listening to your challenges, sharing ideas, and exploring ways we can better support your training needs. We walked away from that event with new relationships, strengthened connections, and a renewed commitment to the work we do together.
We also had the honor of supporting our Medical Director at the Heroes in the Heartland EMS Conference in Oklahoma. Being present at these events allows us to stay aligned with the leaders shaping our profession and, just as importantly, to stay accessible to the students and agencies we serve.
These opportunities to connect—whether at conferences, in classrooms, or through ongoing communication—are at the heart of who we are. We believe that the best outcomes in EMS education come from strong, collaborative relationships built on trust, responsiveness, and a shared mission.
